An Avowal

This was written by Tayanyar Fellows, the 133rd Ocelot, in 9302. Poor Tay is rather embarrassed about it. She thinks of herself as a serious poet and doesn't understand why this is the only thing everyone can remember.

Um..it's a poem. I don't write many poems. I've never written a science fiction poem before. I wrote the last verse in a burst if inspiration and then tacked the poorer first verses on the front.

An Avowal

Give me but my swift starship,
My laser and my gun
Give me but my strength and spirit
To stand against the dark.

Give me but my green homeworld
The mountains and the sky
Give me but my dream of light
And I will give my life.

Though kin may fall and friend may die,
I'll fight 'til end of day
But give me but my hope once more
And I will fight again.
