I thought it might be rather helpful to have a masterlist giving some indication of where and when everything fits, especially as my WIPs are going up here, but individual pieces are still gathered on Elfwood. I've taken 2009 (the year of Tiger's birth) as Year 0, as more than one universe is involved, and date conversion makes my brain hurt. So, just for reference:

The universe is infinite, yet ever-expanding. The greater darkness into which it extends is the Void, limitless and cold. Of all the known universes of the Void, ours is but one, little known and insignificant. Through all of time and through all the worlds there are and have been Light has warred against Darkness. We, who possess a real and dangerous power, have fought through all the days, sometimes in battle, sometimes in stealth, to hold back the advance of the Dark and preserve both life and the hope of life. Many are called to the service of the Light, all those gifted with the power to fight the Dark, and all these many travel to the great Citadel of the Light at the heart of the known universes to pledge their souls against the Dark. There we remember them, who gave their all in the service of the Light.

The Founding of the Citadel

Driven from their worlds by a dark power from the Void, refugees from Megatha, Soreli and C'Tir risked their lives and worlds to summon a power to face the Dark. The Summoning of the Light killed all save two of the eight founders of the Citadel, and destroyed universes, including Megatha, home of half the founders.

Grief - Galeron Aurelian, Tomalis.

The Eternal War

Since the foundation of the Citadel of the Light, the eternal war has continued, by stealth and outright battle. Both Light and Dark have gained and lost great allies in the universes that lie between their strongholds. Many who serve greater powers have come of age in distant worlds, long before they dedicated themselves to battle.

The Ride on Darkholm

Oftimes the war between Light and Dark intensifies and sweeps through universe after universe, becomes open battle. The last such age was a mere generation ago, as all other worlds count time. As the legions of the Light were drawn into outright war, the young commanders of the disgraced Ninth Legion, Lynx and Bobcat, found themselves feted as the heroes of their age. As the Ninth won battle after battle, they drew the full enmity of the Dark, who determined that to win any great victory against the Light, they must first destroy the Ninth. Finally, after the horrors of the ride out of Tírial, they succeeded in slaying Bobcat. The Ninth, enraged by grief, rode after Lynx to besiege Darkholm itself, driving the Dark back as the gathered legions fell in behind them. It was the greatest defeat the Dark had suffered for many centuries but the Light could not destroy them utterly. The legions were broken, consuls lost, the brightest and the best lying among the ranks of the dead. Ancient allies of the Light had fallen into the power of the Dark.

For a time, there was peace.

The Rising of the Dark

The heroes of the war scattered across the known universes, bringing up their children in exile and isolation. The Dark, though, was rising, and the Light had no strength to hold them back. The ancient stronghold of C'Tiri was lost. Isola was next to fall, the island city sealing its gate to protect the Citadel. In desperation, the Council of the Light began to consider a greater sacrifice than they had ever dared.

Meanwhile, in the cold shadows of the Void, the ghost of Lia Aurelian is searching for the children who will protect the Light against a worse danger than anything the Dark can threaten...

The Aftermath of Partition

Faced with the rising power of the Dark, the Light determined to sacrifice a single universe, accelerating the passing of its years to create a source of power and a refuge where their wounded could spend years recovering without aging. Lynx, still under a ban of exile, had no choice but to remain in her world while all she loved departed. Her daughter Emli, defying the Light, remained with her, assuming she would age and die like all those in her world.

Yet Lynx and Emli, and the three servants of the Dark trapped in the world with them, slowly realised that they were not aging, and began to struggle to control the sealed world, and the children with power who were still being born there. The city of Atlantis was built in the middle of the Atlantic, and Emli, now calling herself Tiger, founded the League of Superheroes.

The League of Atlantis

In AD 2363 the government of Earth elected a new head of InterEarth, the international police force. The mysterious Lynx announced a number of iniatives, including bringing the League of Superheroes under the control of InterEarth. A trial was announced in the capital city of Atlantis, with League heroes working with local police to patrol the city. Their leader Tiger, who reported directly to Lynx of InterEarth, rapidly became a major figure in Atlantean politics...

The Emlian League

As humanity spread across the galaxy, the League became increasingly constrained by their role as crime fighters. Stealing a planet, they declared their independence and vanished from official histories. Patrolling the starways in secret, they established their own Fleets, and ensured they infiltrated the military and government structures of the Galactic government.

Void Era

Even after the League are integrated into the service of the Light, the war rages on, and one by one, the gates are falling and universes are being drawn into oblivion. This is where the dating system gets baffling, folks, as Emli's story merges back into the main timeline.

Holy timeline Batman.

Sorry, what do you say to anyone about such a farflung vision. Extrodinary.

*sighs* The amount of stuff still tucked away in my head swamps this. I have got a complete timeline for the League period, though a lot of it is still quite bare.

Oh, well. At least I'll never run out of things to write.

The idea of this was part of the redesign. I thought it would be a useful link to have in the sidebar. It was fun to do - I've got the whole League era on a timeline but I hadn't really worked out how the earlier parts fitted together.

Thanks for reading it :) It was meant to be more functional than fun.

Wow.

*stares a moment in utter awe*

*squees* Marvellous! Now I understand why Lynx and Tiger live so long! I've always wondered, but guessed you would explain it at some point.

And all those stories. And all that timeline o_0 it's a little dizzying, but finally shows the scope and depth of these tales.

Wonderful stuff ^_^

The whole run up to the Partition will be in Shadow Hunter, if I ever get that far with it. Em's a bit dense, though - takes her twenty years to twig she isn't just looking young for her age.

I've tried not to stick too many spoilers in here. It's definitely the compact version. It was fun to work out, though - I hadn't realised that Shadow Hunter and Wind's Road were exactly contemporary.

Just don't ask about the post-League period. O_o

Thanks for reading it. It was mostly meant for reference but I thought people might like to see it.

Urm. Whoa.

Thanks for putting that up - it's probably just the on-again-off-again way I read random stories of yours, but I've never managed to completely sort out the 'What Happens When' in my head before.

So ... let's see ... that's what, roughly 11,000 years all up, yes? Can't half tell this corpus has been growing over a whole bloody lifetime ...

Heh. What happens when is still fairly vague in my head. It's only when I make myself write it down that it falls into place.

Yup. Over 20, 000 years in total, though swathes of that have yet to even touch paper. I realised earlier this week that I'd spent more of my life with Lynx in the back of my head than without. (which explains a lot really ~_^)

It still growing, and I'm still suddenly understanding the connections between it all. Great fun.

Hello, I'm Daniel. I read most of your Atlantis-tales on Elfwood a couple of years ago, (I compared Tiger with Gandalf on one occation, meaning they were both the other heroes mentors and sort-of-guardians, and they both looked stunning in grey ;) if you remember that comment. won't blame you if you don't. ^_^ )

Anyways, I really admire your writing and the technic and style inspires me so much, so I also went on and read alot from this masterlist. But some things seem to be under a friendslock or something, so if I ask really nice and give you a cup of damn good tea and some chocolate, would you let me read your friendslocked stories too? ;)

In any case, thank you for sharing your faboulus stories!

Hello! How lovely to hear from you again. Of course I remember you - that Gandalf comment was what got me started on writing The Haunted!

I've friended you, so you should be able to see everything now. I'm starting to send things out for publication again, so I'm being a bit more paranoid about them these days.

Welcome back :)

I remember you said the comment got you thinking, but I had no idea it got you started with The Haunted! That makes me feel real happy, it's lovely when comments are appreciated and even more when they lead to something like that. ^_^

Thank you. I thought I should read your tales in a chronological order, to really get to see the big picture and the whole depth as it unfolds.
Good luck with the publication! Hope to see you on the bookshelves soon. :)
Is it Atlantis and the Light and the Dark you are trying to get published, or something else?

Thanks, it feels good to be back ;)

*chuckles* I'll warn you now that it's a fairly light-hearted story, and the Gandalf reference is part of the fun. ^_^

Thanks! At the moment I'm sending short stories to magazines. I've got a couple of Atlantis pieces out, though I haven't had much success yet. My big extended project at the moment is The Wind's Road, which is linked to the Light and Dark stuff but set in another world.

Oh, and I see from your user info that you're a writer, too. Please come and join the [livejournal.com profile] talechasing community. It's a group of Elfwood writers who share ideas. The whole thing is trying to encourage people to write more and to write about writing and we always welcome new members. :)

Looking forward to read it. ^_^

Yes, an aspiring writer at best. ;) I have been struggling with me being to critical against my own writing the last months, so it has been pretty depressing. I have had too much pressure on myself to make my stories enjoyable in other peoples eyes. But I think I'm beginning to get back on track now.

Oh, I certainly will! Although, my writing in the english language don't match my skills to read in it. How do I join the community, must I ask the other members permission too?

You just need to go to the community info (http://community.livejournal.com/talechasing/profile) page. There's a link that says 'to join the community click here'. Do that and then one of us will approve you :)

Do come and join us! The idea is to make writing fun and try to take some of the pressure off, so hopefully we can help :)

Birdbrains is actually one of the weakest pieces here. I usually suggest people start with Dandelion and Thistledown if they fancy something long or just dip in for shorter things. I'm afraid an awful lot of these are down for rewriting at the moment, so apologies if the links don't worked. I'm due for my seasonal tidy-up this week.

So you wouldn't recommend reading them according to the timeline here? I'm also trying to work out the best place to start.
